Want to be part of an innovative organization that helps research and development (R&D) teams make discoveries that have the potential to transform the lives of populations worldwide?

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join IDBS in a commercially focused Product Manager role.

The latest breakthroughs in biotechnology are driving revolutionary changes in how industry develops new medicines, materials and consumer products. Biotechnology is data intensive; for companies to effectively manage their R&D pipeline, they require modern tools to capture, manage and make sense of large and complex datasets generated by extended teams scattered across the globe.

IDBS is a world leader in delivering enterprise software that drives the R&D engine of the most innovative companies in the world. With over 25 years serving our markets, our customer list includes the biggest names in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agricultural sciences, chemicals, consumer goods, energy and healthcare.

We are passionate about our customers. We constantly strive to maintain our dominant position as a market leader with a strong focus on customer success and heavily investing in our technology and products. Our E-WorkBook Cloud is an enterprise, cloud-based platform designed to meet the challenges of scientific and R&D data management. Modular in design, it combines best in-class electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) functionality with cutting-edge data capture and analysis, resource planning, and sample, equipment and inventory management. With a fresh, web-based interface, it is designed with an eye towards the future to meet the needs of both traditional chemistry as well as biologics/biotechnology-based R&D programs.

This is a time of rapid growth at IDBS. We’re therefore looking for a commercially savvy, experienced product professional to join the IDBS product team, specifically to help expand the penetration of The E-WorkBook Cloud into the biotechnology R&D market. You’ll be someone with commercial vision, who cares passionately about making sure our products deliver value to our customers, and in turn, can help ensure our products remain innovative, grow market share and help maintain IDBS’ strong brand.

As Product Manager, you will work across the entire project lifecycle from product definition through to sales execution. You’ll help define and execute a product strategy and commercial roadmap aligned to sales and marketing initiatives and campaigns designed to drive sales and customer affinity with IDBS Products. If you’re not already, you’ll swiftly become recognized as a thought-leader in the market sector, representing and contributing to IDBS' positioning, and will act as product champion and lead evangelist both internally and with our customers.

    In addition, you’ll:

    • Maintain market awareness and act as a subject matter expert within your product & market segment: including analysis of market conditions, needs, targets, and competitive threat
    • Work closely with our software development organization to design and deliver products that meet customer and future market needs
    • Manage/own a market-segment revenue number and be responsible for the forecasting, budgeting and the associated marketing spend towards that market.
    • Develop, manage and report on key product metrics/KPIs through creation, validation, and execution of product strategies
    • Manage the relationship with internal stakeholders to deliver an integrated sales and marketing plan and ensure sales readiness and execution
    • Lead/Input into all aspects of the Product Marketing mix including pricing, presentations (webinars), social media, CRM etc.
    • Drive development around key customer and product presentations for tradeshows, events and accounts
    • Support our Product Marketing Manager in the creation of relevant and impactful messaging/content

We value the different backgrounds that individuals can bring to IDBS and look to strengthen our team by ideally hiring someone who brings in complementary skills and experience. In an ideal world, you’ll have the following qualifications:

    • Prior experience in a relevant product, sales or marketing position supporting informatics software targeted at R&D organizations. Examples include ELN, LIMS and screening platforms, or applications focused on data analytics, search or visualization technologies.
    • Alternatively, you possess deep subject matter knowledge within a scientific or research domain, with real-world experience with the application of the such technologies within a relevant industry context.
    • Familiarity with SaaS based products and delivery models
    • Bachelors or higher degree in a science, engineering or math /stats discipline

Aside from your background, HOW you work is equally important to us, and we are looking for a candidate with:

    • The ability to provide leadership and direction as part of a matrixed, cross-disciplinary and geographically dispersed collaborative team
    • Commercial and numerical acumen, perhaps with prior experience in business planning
    • The enthusiasm and confidence to evangelize both product and vision
    • The desire and ability to learn and utilize new technologies

Reporting to Scott Weiss who is our VP of Product Strategy, the role is based out of our on-trend downtown Boston office; but don’t expect to be sat at your desk every day as you’ll be travelling to other IDBS offices in the US and Europe, as well as getting in front of our customers as a domain and product expert.

Last year, IDBS joined the Danaher family, forming the foundation of Danaher’s new life science informatics business so it’s a tremendously exciting time to be joining us to grow your career.
